Client: Unbox London

Brief: #BehindTheFace was a groundbreaking series of one minute stories from change-makers, pioneers and influencers aimed at inspiring people to better themselves through entrepreneurial spirit. Tasked with creating a new and interesting way in which to deliver these stories in public places, Anomalous Visuals shot a series of video portraits of each participant that could be activated using augmented reality software.

Response: Using augmented reality as the basis for exploration we developed a campaign which utilised the technology as a story telling medium. Each of the participants were filmed in the studio speaking to camera, starting with there eyes closed. In post production the first frame was removed and used as a still image to activate the video content using the Blippar app. Using this technological approach we were able to create content that could be easily and cheaply displayed across a wide area as interactive posters.

Results: The interactive posters displaying each of the participants were placed around the London borough of Camden. The posters were ‘activated’ using the Blippar augmented reality app via smartphones to give a new viewing experience to the public. Alongside this live activation the images and videos were featured across social media platforms to highlight the campaign.
